National Nutrition Month® began as National Nutrition Week in 1973. At that time there was a lot of interest and excitement and in 1980 it became National Nutrition Month.

Since its inception, National Nutrition Month® has been celebrated with great enthusiasm by members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and by nutritionists and dietitians in Puerto Rico and the United States. It is an opportunity to promote the profession and be vehicles to share the message of healthy eating with the general population.
Despite the changes over time, National Nutrition Month® is celebrated with great success because it only depends on the enthusiasm of this professional in planning activities in its different platforms, whether large, small and for all types of audiences.
In 1973 - The first National Nutrition Week campaign was launched with a presidential proclamation, radio, TV, public service announcements, news and even bumper stickers with the theme "Invest in You - Buy Nutrition".
This year the theme is "Celebrate a World of Flavors" . The focus is that during the month of March 2022 arch is National Nutrition Month!
